L’Irréductible 2020 du Domaine de La Bégude
Bandol rose wine AOC
Magnum (150 cl)

An iconic rosé
Here is a true rosé with a real identity and faithful to the tradition of great Bandols! Both singular and emblematic of the estate’s style, this top-of-the-range cuvée has been designed to defy time. A confidential cuvée to discover Mourvèdre in a different way. Thanks to L’Irréductible, you lose all your reference points, even those of colour, and you no longer know whether you are drinking a rosé from the Mediterranean coast, a salty white or a light, subtle red. Surprising in its complexity, structure and salinity, this unique rosé was born on harsh red soils, exposed to the fierce winds.

Tasting notes
A raspberry colour appearance with hints of violet, its typical nose of ripe Mourvèdre combines the scents of small red fruits with spicy notes of pepper and garrigue. The smooth palate is reminiscent of raspberry, blackberry and crushed strawberry, with hints of spice and fresh hazelnut. Very structured on the palate, with beautiful racy tannins. Its long, fleshy, slightly iodized finish is fresh. With ageing, L’Irréductible develops tertiary, saffron and truffle aromas. A rosé with an exceptional ageing potential (10-15 years).

Vinous : 94/100 Intense red berry, pit fruit, nectarine, blood orange and floral scents on the highly perfumed, mineral-accented nose. Juicy and penetrating on the palate, offering concentrated nectarine, strawberry, orange pith and candied lavender flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Shows superb clarity and mineral lift on the impressively long, chewy finish, which strongly repeats the pit fruit and floral notes.

James Suckling : 92/100 Expressive nose for this coral colored rosé with cooked strawberries, spiced cherries and plenty of baking spices. Medium-bodied with an intense core of fruit at the center with a powdery texture coming through on the mid-palate. Structured and ample with a juicy finish. Mourvedre. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.

WineEnthusiast : 93/100 A rosé that can be aged, this brings out richness, density and ripe red fruits. With its texture, acidity and concentration, the wine has light salinity as well as flavors from the wild herbs of the region. It is ready to drink but will be much better from 2022.

Terre de Vins : 18/20 Behind its magnificent but atypical poppy colour lies a wine no less out of the ordinary, made from 90% Mourvèdre. It has a powerful bouquet of red fruits and is undeniably a rosé that can be laid down – another original feature, since it can be decanted and even cellared for a few years.

Les Echos : 94/100
Drink Business : 93/100
Revue des Vins de France : 92/100
Jancis Robinson : 16,5/20
