La Brulade 2018 du Domaine de La Bégude Bandol AOC Magnum (150cl)
160,00€
A prominent red
Born from an austere and prestigious terroir, this very confidential cuvée reveals the purest expression of the quintessence of Mourvèdre. La Brulade is one of the most beautiful references for the collectors of great Bandol wines! La Brulade, the well-named, is the plot of all extremes: the most arid, the sunniest and the most exposed to the winds, on a fiery terroir of ferruginous sandstone. Its 3 hectares divided into 11 terraces are distinguished by a very low yield and produce small, highly concentrated bunches of grapes, allowing the wine to deliver its ripest and most accomplished expression.
Tasting notes
A dense colour, sign of a strong concentration, a spicy nose with notes of garrigue and black pepper. As it ages, La Brulade develops very complex tertiary aromas of leather, menthol, blond tobacco and wild sloe. The mouth, very structured with a beautiful grain of tannins, ends beautifully with a remarkable length and minerality.

Wine Enthusiast : 95/100 Vines from La Brulade, the highest point in Bandol at 1,200 feet, make this rich and dense wine. Perfumed and still packed with dark tannins to nourish the juicy black fruits, it is structured and concentrated. Drink from 2024. Organic.
Jancis Robinson : 17,5/20 Dark-cherry fruit, a voluptuous nose, burnished. The fruit shapes the palate into paraboloid curves, a swoop that moves from dried cherries to cooked red plums to forest-pine-needle-scented earthiness and an astringent, medical, super-fresh rub of clove and oolong tea. Not quite as much power as the 2019, but more grace. More poetry and rhythm. A long, long silky finish.
James Suckling : 92/100 Plenty of attractive aromas of cassis, crushed berries, smoke, dried thyme and grilled meat. Medium body with fine tannins and plenty of freshness and crunch at the center. Velvety texture with juicy berries and a focused, transparent finish. Succulent and well crafted. Drink or hold.
Guide Vert RVF : 93/100 La Brûlade 2018 suffers from the rainy vintage and displays elegant tannins in a complex ensemble: crisp fruit, pencil lead, leather, spices.
